The journey of Elizabeth and Jack.

Well, this s a fanfiction I wrote about this lovely and beautiful couple, and what happened after we left them in DMC. It's my first story about these two, so I'm hoping you'll let me know what you think. Here's the first chapter, many more to come. Enjoy!

1.

Elizabeth was walking towards Jack’s cabin, and was feeling nervous. She hadn’t really talked to him since he had been raised from the dead, and other than feeling immensely relieved, nothing had happened to indicate the status between them. She still remembered seeing him alive again for the first time.

--- Flashback ----

There he was, Captain Jack Sparrow alive and well, as if nothinghad happened. As if her heart hadn’t been torn to pieces as she had thought him dead. She had betrayed him, and even though it had been necessary and justified she still hated that fact. She loved him, and sacrificing him, and the chance for reel happiness that he represented, in order to save the rest of the crew had been the toughest decision she had ever been forced to make. Now she didn’t know how to react, or what to expect from him, and she felt nervous.

“Best damn crew in the Caribbean!” he laughed as his men greeted him. “Good to be back”

“Good to have you back Captain Sparrow” Anna-Maria smiled.

“Sure is Captain” Gibbs agreed.

“Watch it,” he told Anna-Maria fondly. “I might get the impression that you like me”

“You’re daft as always” she grinned.

“Mister Turner. Seem to be crossing my path quite a lot. Good luck I suppose” he greeted.

“Jack” Will saluted his friend. “Good to see you”

“Miss Swann” he smiled charmingly at her. “What a nice surprise. Joining your fiancé and my crew on the quest to bring me back from the dead? I must admit that I’m surprised considering how we ended things”

She winced at that statement and didn’t quit know how to take it.

“Jack…” she began.

“No worries luv” he smiled. “Just messing with you. A pleasure as always darling”

She smiled back, not really knowing what it all meant, and whether or not Jack was actually angry, hurt or just being his usual annoyingly teasing self.

Now she was determined to figure out exactly what he felt towards her. She knocked, and entered when allowed.

“Elizabeth, good” Jack said. “Tell dear William to get off his ass, because I’ve got a job for him”

“I will” she assured him with a smile. “I was, however, hoping for some time to talk to you”

“What’s going on luv?” Jack asked.

“Well, I know that I… forced your hand when we were attacked….” She nervously began.

“I told you luv” Jack interrupted. “I admire a person who’s willing to do whatever is necessary”

“I remember, and I believe that” Elizabeth nodded. “I did wonder though. Is there a reason you’ve been avoiding me since we brought you back?”

Jacks intense eyes locked with hers, and she felt breathless. He was absolutely gorgeous. And smiling that cocky smile of his too it seemed. How could he find this amusing? Did he really enjoy seeing her suffer?

“Not at all” Jack told her. “All is well between us as before darling”

“But that’s it” she sighed. “I thought that things had started to change between us”

“Other than you showing your inner pirate, which I didn’t find that surprising, what do you think changed?” Jack wondered.

“See, it wasn’t about my inner pirate” she tried.

“Then what?” Jack wanted to know.

“It was about us,” she explained.

“Us? Did I miss something luv?”

“The feelings behind that kiss were real” she sniffled. “They were very real”

“What are you trying to say here?” Jack pressed.

“That, even tough I tricked you, the kiss was real. My feelings for you were real”

“I just assumed that you and young Mr. Turner…” Jack began.

“No” she assured him. “He saw that kiss, and he knew how I felt about you. After that, neither of us could pretend otherwise”

“Well, this time you did manage to surprise me luv!” Jack laughed.

Again he found this amusing. Well, obviously she had read it all wrong, and he didn’t feel the same way. God, she needed to get away from him right now, this was embarrassing.

“I’ll just be going then” she smiled sadly.

“You don’t want to hear my side Miss Swan?” he teased softly.

“Yes” she nodded.

“Everything changed for me that night. I finally admitted what I most wanted in this world, and that’s why I came back. It was you,” he explained. “But I thought that it hadn’t been real when you left me there, that it had been a trick all along”

“I’m so sorry, but I couldn’t let everyone die because of your mistake” she cried. “I was devastated when I thought that I had lost you forever”

“Don’t cry luv” Jack whispered, and took her in his arms. “I got free from your cuffs, but I didn’t try to run. I knew what had to be done to save you”

“Really?” she smiled.

“Really” he nodded. “And for the record: my feelings were real as well”

“You’re a good man Jack Sparrow,” she told him.

“So you keep saying” he laughed, and whipped away a tear from her eye.

“I’m impressed” she mocked him lovingly. “Five minutes of being serious before you cracked!”

“Well, I’m Captain Jack Sparrow” he reminded her fondly. “That’s really not in my nature”

“No?!” she teased.

“Cute” he smiled. “Very cute”

“Really?” she asked smoothly. “I’m glad you think so”

“Mmmm” he purred. “I definitely think so”

“Are you going to do anything about it then?” she challenged him innocently.

“What is it you want me to do I wonder?”

“You figure it out, oh clever one” she grinned.

“Well milady” he began, and stepped very close to her. “This is the day you will always remember as the day when Captain Jack Sparrow kissed you”

“Best make it memorable then” she laughed, before being silenced by the kiss.

It was the same electricity that she had felt when she had kissed him some time ago. He made her knees go weak, and she found it hard to breath. She didn’t understand his magic, but it felt amazing. The compass had been right all along. He was what she wanted most in this world, and she was happy to find that he felt the same.

“Memorable enough?” he smiled when he ended the kiss.

“Definitely worth a repeat performance” she told him, and he smilingly began their second kiss.

2.

Live aboard The Black Pearl was everything she could have ever hoped for. She was young, happily in love, and free in a way she had never dared hope for. She couldn’t see herself anywhere else; after six months she knew that this was where she belonged. That was why she was looking for the Captain.

“Jack!” she smiled when she saw him for the first time for hours that day.

“What can I do for you luv?” he asked happily.

“The question is: what can I do for you?” she told him.

“I see” he nodded with a mischievous look. “Do answer the question for me then dearie”

“The answer is: take you up on your offer” she said matter-of-factly.

“Help your old Captain out here” he began. “What is it that I’ supposedly offered you pet?”

“Marriage” she nervously declared while searching for a reaction. “I said no at the time, as I was still in denial and with Will, but….”

“I’m not quite sure luv,” Jack admitted amusedly. “That seems to be when the men looses your interest, as I recall”

“I never thought I’d live to see the day!” she teased. “Captain Jack Sparrow actually doubting his ability to get what he wants?!”

“You’re right pet” he told her. “I’m not like the other men in your life”

“No your not” she lovingly agreed. “You’re the one who made me sail to the ends of the earth to be with you, and who has made sure I thank the Gods for giving you back to me every single day. You have nothing to fear, ever”

“Well luv, seems I’m getting married then,” he laughed happily. “What do you say to that men?!” he roared. “Your Captain is tying the knot!”

“Aye!” the crew yelled to the happy couple.

“I always said you were daft lady” Anna-Maria smiled at Elizabeth.

“I’m inclined to agree” Elizabeth nodded amused.

“Daft like Jack!” Gibbs laughed.

“Back to work you” Jack winked, and led his fiancé into his cabin.

She grinned at the couple, nodded respectfully to her captain, and followed his orders without any complaints or delay. Gibs opened the door respectfully and saluted them happily.

“Mrs. Jack Sparrow” he mumbled. “Who would have ever thought?”

“Your fiancé for one” Elizabeth teased.

“Well, she always was intelligent” Jack countered. “Not to mention incredibly lucky with men”

“Some might say it’s he who’s the lucky one” she smiled amused. “But we know better” she assured him unconvincingly after seeing his mock reaction.

Jack just smiled at her, and shook his head in disbelief. She gave him a shy smile back, and was drawn into his arms. She kissed his neck lovingly, put her arms around him, and tried to get as close to him as possible.

“What?” she wondered with a grin

“I don’t deserve you,” he told her. “But I love you so much”

“You deserve me” she assured him. “I, however, am very lucky to have Captain Jack Sparrow in my life, especially as my fiancé”

“I actually believe you,” he laughed.

“Good” she said. “Because I love you too. More than you’ll ever know”

“I think I might have an idea darling” he replied, and gave her a kiss.

“Do you have anything important you need to take care of?” she asked.

“Not at present time” he answered. “Why?”

“Because I had hoped to keep you occupied for some time” she smiled wickedly

“I like the way you think luv” he laughed, and laid her on the bed. “I like it a lot”

She laughed, but was soon silenced by a passionate kiss. This was all she could have ever dreamed of she decided. It was so unlike the life she had imagined for herself, but in the best way possible. At that moment she really did have it all.

She was on her way to see her husband, and carrying a bottle of rum in her hand. She had a feeling he might need it after receiving the latest news. She smiled at the thought despite feeling nervous. She knocked, and entered.

“Oh oh” Jack smiled as he saw the look on her face. “Am I in trouble with me wife?”

“Not at all” she assured him with amusement.

“What is it luv?” Jack wanted to know.

“I’m pregnant,” she told him.

“What?!” Jack burst out.

“It means we’re having a baby,” she elaborated nervously.

“I know what it means” he absentmindedly assured her. “But how did this happen?!”

“Well” she began teasingly. “It is kind of like the birds and the bees”

“I’m not that stupid!” he defended himself, and she snickered. “But how did this happen? I’m Captain Jack Sparrow! I’m not cut out to be a father!”

“Oh baby” she softly said, and gave him a kiss. “I know you’re not”

“I resent that,” he told her with a slight grin.

“Well, Captain my Captain” she smiled, and sat down the bottle of rum in front of him. “I brought this for help. You probably have a lot of thinking to do”

“I knew I loved you!” he laughed, and took a sip. “Want to join me?”

“No, you enjoy it for yourself” she said, and gave him a kiss. “See you luv,” she added as she opened the door before her.

“Only the Captain says luv!” he yelled after her, and she closed the door while shaking her head.

“So, how are we doing?” she asked nervously when she came to see him an hour later.

“Pretty good darling” he smiled.

“Yeah” she nodded. “Not really buying it”

“Clever girl” he laughed softly.

“Wanna talk about it?” she asked hopefully.

“We can talk” he nodded.

“Good” she sighed relieved. “So, not really too happy about the news eh?”

“I know you want kids,” he told her softly. “And I want you to have everything your sweet heart desires. But I can’t help but wonder if I was the right choice for you”

“Don’t you ever doubt that!” she told him sternly.

“I….” He began.

“No!” she ordered. “I love you baby! And every single day you amaze me”

“I bet” he sighed.

“Jack, look at me” she begged, and he did. “You need to understand something Captain”

“Yes deary?” he urged her on.

“Everything you do just takes my breath away” she declared with love. “Every look, every word, every touch, every kiss. You make my head spin so fast, and I feel happier than I ever would have thought possible”.

“But I’ll mess it up” he said with conviction. “What if this kid turns out like me?”

“Then we’ll have done our job as parents amazingly good” she answered without hesitation.

“Once upon a time you would have hated that prospect,” he reminded her fondly.

“True enough” she agreed. “But I fell in love with you so quickly, and even though a lot of time and energy was used to deny it, the fact remains that I changed my mind about you long before I admitted it to myself, not to mention you”

“So you have faith in me as always?” he wondered amused.

“I do” she assured him.

“I don’t deserve you” he smiled.

“No you don’t, but I’m all yours despite of that” she teased.

“So I take your breath away pet?” he smirked.

“I wondered when you’d use that against me” she laughed.

“When I look at you like this?” he asked, and looked her straight in the eyes with intense love.

“Mhm” she nodded.

“When I call you luv?” he purred.

“Mhm” she agreed again.

“When I touch you like this?” he wondered, and caressed her cheeks.

“Aha” she sighed contently.

“And when I kiss you like this?” he wanted to know, and kissed her passionately.

She let herself be swept away, and enjoyed feeling his strong arms around her. She would never tire of this enormous effect he had on her, and would be happy anywhere as long as he was there along with her. She nodded breathlessly to answer his question when he let her free, and he smiled.

“Would it surprise you to find that I feel the same way?” he inquired.

“A little” she confessed after catching her breath completely. “You’re Captain Jack Sparrow”

“Aye” he laughed. “And up until I met you I considered it impossible as well”

“As did everyone else I’d imagine,” she told him.

“They might have,” he agreed. “They might still as I encourage that image, but I doubt it as I am bad at hiding it, and they can tell that I’m different”

“Why the image?” she was curious to know.

“It’s what keeps me alive” he admitted.” The image of this boat, the image of it’s crazy, yet unbeatable, Captain Jack Sparrow, and now the image of his beautiful, yet fierce, bonny lass”

“How does that keep you alive?” she wondered, and then smiled. “I have an image as well?”

“The image of this boat makes it possible to take what I want from other boats without having to fight and kill, as they are too terrified. My image makes most people give up as they consider beating me impossible, and it makes others want to help me, as they know my reputation, thus enhancing my image even more. Further more, my image, combined with yours, makes sure people does not dare to hurt you, which makes me sleep at night” he explained.

“Wow” she softly replied. “You truly are a smart man Jack”

“No doubt about my trustworthyness?” he asked amused.

“None whatsoever” she shook her head.

“I’m glad,” he confessed. “But now it’s time to really take your breath away”

“Sounds good” she smiled, and initiated a kiss, while heading for their bed.

“My beautiful wife” he softly whispered.

“My gorgeous husband” she whispered in response, and kissed him again.

“Daddy?” Jacquelyn asked.

“What are the rules when daddy’s drinking rum?” Jack wondered, and showed his daughter a bottle.

“When daddy’s drinking rum you go to mum” his daughter cited.

“That’s my girl” Jack smiled approvingly.

“Jack, my darling Captain?” Elizabeth shouted from the bedroom.

“Yes luv?” he answered.

“Talk to your daughter!” his wife ordered.

“Naturally darling!” he assured her, and sat his daughter on his knees. “What sweetheart?”

“Anna-Maria said that you’re crazy, but when I asked Gibbs he said that even though that is true, it’s in a really good way. What does that mean?”

“Well, Anna-Maria and daddy have a funny relationship Jackie” he explained. “But what Gibbs was trying to say, and what Anna-Maria would agree with deep down, is that even though I sometimes act weird, I know what I’m doing. Savvy?”

“Savvy” the little girl nodded. “I told Gibbs that I’m sometimes scared of things, and he said that I shouldn’t be, because Captain Jack Sparrow’s daughter has nothing to fear. Is that true?”

“Of course it is” he nodded and kissed her forehead. “As long as I’m still breathing I’ll never let anything bad happen to you”

“And neither will I” Elizabeth smiled as she entered the room.

“So I shouldn’t be scared?” Jacquelyn wanted confirmed.

“No sweetheart, you shouldn’t” her mother assured her. “Your father is an amazing man, and he never promises what he can’t keep”

“And your mother is not without abilities either!” he laughed, and kissed his wife.

“Daddy?” their daughter continued.

“What darling?” Jack wanted to know.

“Do you love mommy?”

“More than life itself” he answered with love.

“And me?” she wanted to know.

“I love you even more than that,” he told his daughter.

“You’ve made your dad an old softy,” Elizabeth teased softly.

“Is that a good thing?” her daughter wondered.

“Yes it is” Jack assured her. “Coming from your mother anyway. It means I love you”

“I love you too daddy” the little girl smiled proudly. “And you mommy”

“I love you too Jackie” Elizabeth replied softly.

“Now go annoy Anna-Maria or Gibbs again. If they don’t feel they have better things to do than to make you disturb my drinking they deserve it!” Jack instructed.

“Mr. Sparrow!” Elizabeth reprimanded.

“I will” their daughter laughed, and ran out on deck to do as she had been told.

“Sorry luv” Jack smiled innocently, and raised the rum bottle in salute.

“I bet you are!” Elizabeth sighed.

“She kept asking me questions and interrupting my drinking!” he complained.

“How awful it must be to be adored by your daughter” Elizabeth teased, but softened considerably.

“Taking your breath away again?” Jack smirked.

“Yes” Elizabeth nodded, and headed for the door. “With your breath!”

“Hey!” Jack yelled after her as she closed the door laughing.

“So” she began a couple of hours later when Jack appeared in their bedroom.

“What?” he wondered suspiciously.

“That was a nice moment with your daughter earlier” she said softly.

“Are you praising my abilities as a father?” Jack smirked.

“I guess I am” she nodded amused. “It’s nice to see anyhow”

“Well, she’s a good kid” he told his wife. “Lucky I like her really”

“Lucky that she adores you as much as the rest of us” she laughed.

“True enough” he nodded. “I do like to be adored”

“I know you do” Elizabeth snickered.

“Where is our daughter anyway?” he inquired.

“With Anna-Maria” Elizabeth told him with a twinkle in her eyes. “She has been with her during her entire shift”

“Ha!” Jack delightedly burst out.

“What is it between the two of you?” Elizabeth wanted to know.

“She’s jealous that I chose you” Jack informed his wife. “But no need to be angry at her luv”

“If this is true, and not just your big ego talking, I must say I quite understand her attraction to you” she smiled.

“Do you now?” Jack smirked. “Thought you had objections with regard to my breath”

“Just messing with your fragile psyche” she assured him. “You did take my breath away as always”

“I know” Jack admitted amused. “Otherwise you would have ended my life years ago. I need the ability to soften you, my life depends on it”

“Well, keep up the good work Captain” she approvingly instructed.

“Will do milady” he saluted, and kissed her.

5.

Elizabeth was standing looking at the ocean. The waves were crashing against the ship, and it looked rather wild and beautiful. She smiled and turned her head to look at Anna-Maria who was talking to Cotton, as much as that was possible of course. She remembered when she had stood watching the ocean quite like she was now, and Barbosa had revealed how perceptive he truly was.

--- Flashback ---

“What is a woman such as you doing on an adventure like this Miss Swann?” Barbosa inquired.

“Trying to help bring back Captain Jack Sparrow of course” she told him.

“Ah” he nodded. “Forgive my ignorance. I didn’t realize that you and the good Captain had become that close in my absence” he said unconvincingly.

“We’re not that close” she protested, because even though that was a lie, it was not something she wanted to discuss with this man.

“I guess I should have seen it coming though” he continued, ignoring her protest. “Jack always did seem to have a weakness when you were concerned”

“He did not” she told him. “He thought I was annoying and too proper”

“Aye” Barbosa laughed. “But he always did enjoy a good challenge”

“If you have a point I wish you’d get to it” Elizabeth told him sternly.

“You know, I always liked Jack” Barbosa admitted.

“Then you have a funny way of showing it!” Elizabeth snorted. “Taking his ship and marooning him on a deserted island. I’d hate to see what you do to those you don’t like!”

“I suppose you have a point. I did treat your Captain badly” Barbosa agreed amused.

“Yes you did” Elizabeth snapped. “And he’s not MY Captain”

“But you see, I was young and I had ambitions” Barbosa continued, once again ignoring her protests. “And he was in the way”

“Well, if that’s why you did it then it’s perfectly understandable!” Elizabeth sarcastically said.

“Maybe not,” Barbosa acknowledged, “but it’s the truth. I heard whispers about the crew being unhappy with his way of running things, and the results he achieved, and I saw an opportunity to achieve power and a treasure”

“Yes, and we all know how that turned out!” Elizabeth reminded him gleefully.

“Aye” Barbosa nodded. “But, you see, it was never about Jack. Truth be told, he was always a better man than me, and I admired him. But he has a way of getting on my nerves, like he does most people, and I wanted his ship”

“Why are you telling me this?” Elizabeth wondered suspiciously.

“To make my point” Barbosa answered.

“Which is?”

“The thing with Jack Sparrow is that it’s often love/hate-relationships he forms. As with me: I like him, and he likes me, but at the same time we hate ach other, and work against each other every chance we get.”

“All very fascinating, but what is your point?” she demanded.

“That you started out the same. You hated him and everything he stood for, yet there was something intriguing, something you admired about him”

“Yes?”

“But for the first time I have seen that change” Barbosa added. “The hate disappeared, and all that seems to be left is love”

Elizabeth looked at him in awe. She never would have thought the man capable of being this intelligent, and even less so nice.

“I suppose you’re right” she stated.

“Don’t look so surprised Missy” he laughed. “Not everything in this world is as black and white as you make it out to be. Has Jack not taught that you can be a pirate and a good man?”

“Yes” she smiled as she thought of Jack. “But you’re nothing like him!”

“That would be correct” he confirmed.

“Why are you even helping us?” Elizabeth wanted to know.

“To regain my life” he admitted.

“Then why are you being nice to me?” she pushed.

“You’re a lot like Jack” he simply stated.

“And?” Elizabeth inquired.

“Goodnight Miss Swann” he saluted as he left.

“Goodnight”

She had been so confused by his actions that she hadn’t understood what he had been trying to say for days; until it finally hit her. She was a lot like Jack, and so he felt the same love/hate-thing towards her as well. She smiled as she saw Anna-Maria standing alone and decided to talk to her.

“Anna-Maria?” Elizabeth began.

“Yes Mrs. Sparrow?” she nodded.

“Elizabeth” she smiled. “What is it with you and my husband?”

“Teasing and fun with a lot of respect behind it” Anna-Maria explained.

“A love/hate-relationship?” she pressed.

“You could say that” Anna-Maria smiled.

“Have you ever had a crush on him?” she wondered.

“Every single girl he has ever met has had a crush on that man,” Anna-Maria laughed. “His charm is a big part of Captain Jack Sparrow’s image”

“Ever feel jealous that he chose me?” Elizabeth wanted to know.

“Aye” she smiled. “Many girls had their hopes crushed when he married”

“Still?”

“No Elizabeth” she shook her head. “I’m way past that”

“I really am considered lucky for getting him, aren’t I?” she wondered.

“Aye” Anna-Maria confirmed with a grin. “Lucky beyond all reason”

“The scary part is I think they’re all right” Elizabeth admitted.

“They are right,” she told Elizabeth. “But for what it’s worth: He got lucky too”

“Thank you” she whispered softly.

“Anytime” Anna-Maria smiled as she walked away.

“One last thing” Elizabeth said as she turned around. “Did he ever have a thing with you?”

“No, I never got beyond flirting” she stated.

“He was an idiot then” Elizabeth replied.

“He wised up, that’s what matters,” she laughed.

“Captain my Captain” she began lovingly.

“Yes deary?” Jack smoothly replied.

“I have a big favor to ask of you,” she admitted nervously.

“I’ll just sit down as I have a feeling that might be required” he sighed. “What do you need?”

“For you to give meeting my father a chance” she told him.

“Darling…” he started.

“Just hear me out” she cut him off. “It would really mean a lot to me and to him as well. He wants to meet his granddaughter, and he wants to try and forget his dissatisfaction with my choices”

“Whatever you need luv” he assured her, and kissed her. “I’ll go and tell the crew of our new heading, and we will soon be on our way to see him”

“I love you so much!” she burst out, and kissed him passionately.

“I should hope so!” he said with a slight smile, and kissed her back.

“Oh and I really need you to play nicely” she begged him. “Please just try and be understanding and patient with him no mater what”

”I’ll try the best I know how, I promise you that” he nodded.

“I love you,” she repeated.

“I love you more” he smiled, and pulled her into his arms.

“Jackie, stay close” he told his daughter as they walked around in Tortuga to get supplies for their trip to Port Royal.

“Stop worrying” Jacquelyn answered.

“Take Jackie with you she says” Jack mumbled grudgingly to himself. “She would be so happy if you allowed her to come with you” he continued, trying to imitate Elizabeth’s voice.

His daughter just laughed softly, and followed him around. It was the first time she had ever been allowed to visit this town, and she had to admit that it was rather exciting. She had never seen so many pirates gathered in one place.

“Then you can buy her a new dress” she heard her father’s voice continue.

“I’ll get a new dress?” she asked.

“Can I get a new set of normal clothes as well?” she asked hopefully, and he looked at her. ”This is getting to small, savvy?”

“Aye” Jack nodded amused. “Might as well now that we’re here”

“Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me” his daughter sang happily.

“After you Miss Sparrow” he smiled, and opened the door to the shop. “Clothes right ahead”

“Last chance to back out of this luv” he reminded her as they were heading for the governors mansions door.

“You want to?” she asked.

“Only if that’s what you want, if you need this I will do it” he assured her.

“I want to do this” she stated, and knocked.

They waited a moment, and then the door was opened, and Elizabeth’s father smiled happily at her, looking slightly shocked.

“You came!” he burst out, and gave her a big hug.

“Of course” she smiled. “I really wanted you to meet your granddaughter”

“I can’t wait” her father said excitedly. “Where is Jacquelyn?”

“Jackie is coming later” she told him. “Anna-Maria is bringing her”

“Well, I will look forward to that then” the governor replied.

“You should” his daughter informed him. “She’s amazing”

“I have no doubt that she is” her father assured her. “You look good darling”

“Thank you” she smiled. “I feel good too. Live at sea suits me very well”

“Yes” her father smiled forcedly. “It looks that way. Jack” he ended, finally acknowledging the presence of his son-in-law.

“Governor” Jack bowed politely.

“How is live as a married man treating you?” he inquired.

“Very well sir” the pirate responded. “But I got lucky. Your daughter is truly spectacular”

“That she is,” he agreed. “But is it enough for you?”

“Father!” Elizabeth warned him.

“It’s fine luv” Jack assured her with a smile. “Yes sir, it’s more than enough. No need to go looking for something else when you know nothing better is out there, is there?”

“I suppose not” the governor replied taken aback. “And live as a father?”

“That’s good too” Jack nodded. “Amazing kid that girl. Thank God she takes after her mother”

“Don’t be fooled father” Elizabeth laughed. “She’s a lot like her father too”

“Do come in and have something to drink” her father politely told them.

“We’d love to” she nodded, and took Jacks hand before walking inside.

“So” her father began after a short moment of silence. “My daughter has become famous”

“I didn’t realize” she smiled.

“I did try to warn you luv,” Jack reminded her.

“Ah yes. The image” Elizabeth teased.

“Laugh all you want, it still remains the truth” he countered.

“Sorry darling, I know it does” she apologized.

He winked at her, and she giggled. He was an amazing man she thought. This was so against his normal behavior. Had it not been for her he would not have taken the insults and innuendos that well, and he would have had come-backs. As it were, he was behaving perfectly.

“Be that as it may” the governor interrupted. “I’m not thrilled with an image of my daughter being a pirate”

“With all do respect” Jack replied before Elizabeth had a chance, “she is a pirate, and a really outstanding one I might ad”

“She shouldn’t be proud of being a pirate’s bitch” he sneered.

“Hey!” Jack threatened. “Call me whatever you like, I don’t care, but you will show my wife respect so help me God!”

“I didn’t mean it like that. I love my daughter…” he began.

“I know you do” Jack nodded. “And for your information so do I. And therefore I demand that you don’t call her things like that in front of me, I don’t care how much her choice to be with me disappointed you”

“Jack, please let it go now. He’s heard you, and will respect you request” Elizabeth tried.

He lifted his hands in defeat, and nodded to his wife to show his agreement. She kissed him, and smiled at her father as the doorbell rang.

“That’s your granddaughter now” she proudly declared. “Will you go let her in Jack?”

“Sure thing luv” he smiled, and headed for the door.

“She’s looking forward to meeting you,” she told her father.

“I’m glad” he smiled. “The feeling is mutual”.

“Jackie” Jack began as they entered the room. “This is your grandfather, the honorable governor Swan”

“Hello Jackie” the governor smiled.

“Hello sir” she politely responded, and shook his hand.

“You’re just as beautiful as your mother and father said you were” he complimented her.

“Thank you” she smiled.

“How old are you now?” he wondered.

“6, sir” she replied.

“Do you attend school?” he wanted to know.

“No sir” she admitted. “But mum and dad are teaching me to read, write and do math”

“I’m glad,” he told her. “A lady needs to know these things”

“That’s what my father always tells me when I complain” she grinned.

“And your grandfather agrees” Jack told her. “And he’s a very smart man, so you ought to listen”

“I do listen dad” she defended herself.

“In this case you should” the governor cut in. “These abilities will prove useful, believe me”

“I do” she assured her grandfather. “Gibbs told me that I have a bright future ahead of me if I want it, and I decided I did”

“Good” he told her. “But who is this Mr. Gibbs, and why did he feel that way?”

“He’s a part of dad’s crew,” she explained. “And he said that I had inherited my fathers amazing intelligence and that it could drive me far if I used it”

“He’s right” Elizabeth proudly declared. “Being the daughter of Captain Jack Sparrow means you have good genes”

“And combined with your mothers they make you sure to succeed” Jack added.

“Yeah, yeah” their daughter sighed teasingly. “Mum’s great, dad’s great, blah blah”

“Watch it missy” Jack threatened lovingly. “You know the punishment”

“Yes Captain” she saluted mockingly.

“Good girl” he nodded with amusement.

“So you like your fathers crew?” he inquired. “They are good to you?”

“I like them very much” his granddaughter confirmed. “Especially Gibbs and Anna-Maria”

“Good people” Jack added.

“I’m sure they are” the governor politely but unconvincingly told him. “But tell me, what happened to young Mr. Turner?”

“Ah, dear William” Jack smiled charmingly. “Well, it seems that he was immune to my infamous charms, and so he decided he couldn’t stand being around me anymore. Elizabeth was inclined to go with him, but I forced her to stay. Too bad you didn’t get him as a son-in-law, eh?”

“Jack!” Elizabeth begged.

“Sorry luv” he saluted. “It seems that young William went on a quest to save his father from Davy Jones. I offered himI disagreeistance, but he was not interested in having any further association with me, and so he left me, Elizabeth and the crew behind”

“My God!” the governor breathed out. “Is he alive?”

“Yes, alive and well last I heard” Jack assured him. “Settled down with some bony lass he met, and took to the sea as a merchant sailor. Seems the pirate blood in his veins couldn’t be entirely denied after all”

“Quite”

“But he did stab the heart of Davy Jones and kill that slimy beast” Jack continued to himself. “So Beckets plans seems to be ruined for the time being. Guess I owe him one after all, eh?”

“Captain!” Gibbs yelled as he burst into the mansion. “We’re under attack!”

“But…” governor Swann began.

“Report?” Jack interrupted seriously.

“Unknown origin ship, but amazing fighters they are” Gibbs declared.

“Pirates?” he wanted to know.

“Aye Captain, as far as we can tell anyway” Gibbs confirmed.

“Do they speak English?” Jack needed to know.

“Yes sir” Gibbs nodded.

“Good” he smiled. “You and Anna-Maria stay here to defend this mansion”

“I can fight” Elizabeth said annoyed. “You need us to win”

“No, I need you alive when I return” Jack told her sternly. “At any sight of trouble inform me immediately”

“Baby…” she began.

“Don’t fight me on this” he sighed.

“No, darling….”she tried.

“Elizabeth, just do this for me luv!” Jack begged.

“Captain my Captain” she carried on.

“What?” he wanted to know.

“They are coming here right now,” she finally informed him, pointing out the window.

Jack turned with all haste to see them approaching, and suddenly became more serious. He turned back to them with his normal confidence, and smiled slightly cocky. Elizabeth could see that he was nervous, but she also saw excitement at the prospect of finally getting some action.

“Take my wife and daughter upstairs, and lock the door. Defend them at all costs, savvy?” he told Gibbs and Anna-Maria. “Oh and…take the governor too,” he added with a wave of his hand.

“Dad!” his daughter roared. “You can’t take them on your own!”

“Go!” he ordered his two crewmembers. “Now!”

“I love you” Elizabeth sniffled.

“My beautiful wife” he softly smiled and kissed her. “I love you too, more than live itself. Now go. I’ll make it through this too, I promise”

“Come on sweetheart” she told her daughter, and dragged her along with her, her father and their bodyguards. “Dad will be all right”

“See you darling” he smiled at his daughter.

“Gents” he smiled charmingly when the pirates entered the mansion. “What can I do for you?”

“Who are you?” their leader inquired.

“Captain Jack Sparrow” he told them cockily. “And you are?”

“Passing through” their leader answered.

“Ah” Jack nodded. “Not from around here I imagine?”

“No” they informed him. “Why?”

“Because you just attacked The Black Pearl mate” he smirked wickedly. “And anyone from around here wouldn’t dare as the consequences aren’t pleasant”

“I see” their leader replied smoothly. “What do you propose?”

“I propose” he began, “that you leave as fast as possible, leave any members of me crew you might have taken, and never come back”

“Why would we want to do that?” the leader wanted to know.

“Because mate, otherwise I might not be inclined to spare you, savvy?”

“We can take him,” one of the others told their Captain.

“Son” Jack charmingly began, and stepped closer. “I’m Captain Jack Sparrow, savvy? Around here people would tell you not to take that too lightly, as it is unwise to underestimate me”

“And people from around our parts of the world would tell you that our fighting technique is not to be underestimated either” their leader warned.

“Ah” Jack nodded amused. “Normally that might scare your opponent, but I highly doubt that you can be worse than skeletons that can not die or Davy Jones and his crew. And as such, I find it hard to imagine you beating me in any way”

The Captain began talking to his crew in a foreign language, and Jack couldn’t understand a word. He did however see the recognition on the crew’s faces as they began looking at him with a newfound respect.

“Ah, so you have heard of me” Jack noticed.

“Naturally Captain Sparrow” the leader answered with respect. “However, your English name was not known t us”

“No matter” Jack smiled. “I’m feeling a need for raping this up, so what is your answer gentlemen?”

“Of course we will leave right away” was the reply. “And we apologize for attacking your fine ship and your crew”

“No hard feelings mate” Jack assured him. “But if I ever see The Nautilus threaten me ship again I will not be as understanding, savvy?”

“It will never happen again Captain” their leader promised him. “I guarantee it”

Jack saluted him politely, and saw them head for the door.

“How did you know about our ship Captain Sparrow?” their leader inquired while opening the door.

“I’m no fool Captain Nemo” Jack explained.

“So I can tell” Nemo saluted. “You’re everything your legend says you are”

“I take that as a compliment” Jack told him.

“It was meant as such,” Nemo confirmed. “It was an honor to meet you”

“Likewise” he politely replied.

“Oh” Nemo smiled. “You do realize we could have killed you?”

“As I said” Jack smiled cockily. “I’m no fool”

Nemo laughed softly before turning to leave. Then the door was closed, and they disappeared into the night. Jack smiled to himself. He had really missed the danger and adventure, but he was glad that it hadn’t turned violent. It would have been too dangerous with his wife and daughter upstairs.

“Captain Nemo?!” Elizabeth shouted. “Are you crazy? One of these days your cockiness will get you killed Jack!”

“Calm down luv” he whispered softly in her ears as he embraced her fiercely. “I would have found a way out of any trouble that might have come my way. I promised you, didn’t I?”

“Yes but…” she protested weakly as she was already softening.

“Ssshhh” he soothingly whispered. “I adore you darling”

“Me too” she sighed contently.

There they stood for a few minutes before he let her go. She had calmed down completely, and he now felt that it was safe to let her free once again.

“And you Jackie?” he smiled happily. “How’s my girl?”

“Good daddy” she assured him, and cuddled as she was taken into her father’s arms. “I wasn’t scared at all, just like you told me not to be”

“Good” he said lovingly, and kissed her. “I’m proud of you. Now go downstairs with your mum, and I will come down in a minute”

He smiled as he sat his daughter down. She had really grown up. No longer a little girl, but a pirate’s daughter that could use a sword, curse, and be fearless. She was still just a kid, however, and faced with any real danger she didn’t have a chance. And she knew how to be a proper lady as well, just like her mother. He had tried to teach her about life, about swords and fighting. “The minute you let your fears take over you’re dead” he had told her. “Always keep your cools girl; always have your wits about. And don’t worry about fighting fair, worry about getting out alive. Only two things matter: what you can do, and what you can’t do. Never forget that”. She had learned very well he proudly thought.

“Come sweetheart” Elizabeth smiled, and took her daughter along downstairs.

“You too” he told Gibbs and Anna-Maria. “And thank you for protecting them”

“Captain?” Anna-Maria wondered.

“Yes?”

“You would have found us if you had gotten in trouble, right?” she inquired.

“And let them to my family?” he laughed bitterly. “Never”

“But you promised…” she began.

“And I would have kept that promise” he assured her.

“But how?” Gibbs asked confused.

“I’m Captain Jack Sparrow,” he told them. “When will you learn?”

“Sorry sir” they saluted amused, and left.

“Sorry about the excitement” he apologized to the governor. “It didn’t help the image of piracy I’d imagine”

“No it didn’t” his father-in-law agreed. “But it did show me that you will protect my daughter and granddaughter against all dangers. You really do love my daughter, don’t you?”

“As I said; more than live itself,” he smiled.

“I’m glad to hear that” the governor said. “I’m still not happy about it, but…”

“I know” Jack said. “This wasn’t what you wanted for her”

“No it was not,” he admitted.

“But it’s what she wanted for herself” Jack added softly.

“It was” the governor agreed. “And maybe she knew what she needed more than I did”

“Aye” Jack nodded,

“Let’s get down to the girls now” he suggested.

“I think that is a very good idea” Jack complied, and followed him. .

“So, now he only hates me a little as opposed to the severe hatred he felt before” Jack told his wife.

“Baby steps, but progress just the same” she smiled amused.

“Maybe it will be down to dislike next time we see him” Jack nodded grinningly.

“Well, it was nice to see him talking to you without insults being uttered all the time” she admitted.

“Aye” Jack agreed. “And our daughter was a huge success I noticed”

“That she was” Elizabeth confirmed. “So maybe we can go visit my father again sometime?”

“Sure thing luv” Jack assured her.

“You’re so good to me” she smiled.

“Only when I have reason to be,” Jack told her amused. “I always have ulterior motives”

“Is that so?” she said, playing along even though she knew it was not true. “And what were you hoping to get in return this time then?”

“A few things come to mind,” he said wickedly. “But the most desired one would involve the two of us naked in our bed”

“Well, that could certainly be arranged” she replied seductively. “Is that all you want?”

“This time, yes” he nodded. “Next time, however, I might demand getting something big”

“Getting all material on me are we?” she teased.

“It’s a material world” he laughed, and drew her close. “Now I shall enjoy my reward”

“I imagine that I will enjoy it as well” she grinned.

“Well, giving is said to bring pleasure luv” he answered, and let her to their bed with a kiss.

“Bloody pirate!” Elizabeth yelled hurt.

“Now, look…”he began.

“No!” she cried. “Get out!”

“That’s enough!” Jack warned her when a bottle hit the wall behind his head.

“I hate you!” she screamed as tears streaked her face.

“If that was true” he softly replied, and took her in his arms despite the fact that she struggled, “you wouldn’t be crying right now”

“Let me go! Don’t you touch me!” she roared.

“I didn’t do anything love” he continued, and kissed her neck. “Don’t be jealous, I would never hurt you like that”

She melted in his arms, and he kissed her passionately. He loved her so much, but her temper could be quite a challenge at times.

“Don’t” she whimpered, and he kissed a soft spot on her neck, enjoying hearing her moan softly.

“I had to go there” he told her. “It was nothing more than business, I swear on pain of death”

“Then who was that girl?” she asked desperately.

“An acquaintance from before I met you” he smiled, and kissed her neck again. “You know I wasn’t innocent or monogamous back then. She wished to continue where we’d left off, but I told her that I had a wife, and didn’t need her services. She kissed my cheek as she said ‘congratulation, she’s a lucky woman’ and then she left”

“But…” she began.

“Other acquaintances heard the news from her, and came to congratulate me as well. What can I say, I broke a lot of hearts in my past love” he smiled. “Believe me; none of the girls hanging around me tonight could get me to hurt you like that. You’re all I want; I need you to trust that”

“I’m sorry” she whispered regretfully.

“As changing and unpredictable as the sea” he murmured lovingly, and kissed her. “And just as utterly beautiful. I love you”

“I love you too” she smiled happily. “That’s why I get scared”

“I know” he told her.

“And I got really upset because it ruined this lovely evening I had planned” she explained.

“Lovely evening? What’s the occasion?” Jack wondered.

“Seems that Jackie is getting a younger brother or sister” she told him.

“Yeah?!” he wondered, and she nodded with a happy smile. “That really is good news! Drinks all around later, I can assure you of that!”

“Later?” she asked innocently.

“Aye” he nodded. “Right now I think we could use a more private celebration, savvy?”

“Savvy” she laughed, and led him to the bed with a kiss.
